4 ONLINE EXPERIENTIAL WORKSHOP SESSIONS
In order to better understand the connection between stress, trauma, and our health, we must turn our attention to the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve can be thought of as a bi-directional information highway that communicates between the mind and body. Imbalances in the vagus nerve and physiology of the autonomic nervous system can lead to feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, depression, or dissociation.
Stimulating the vagus nerve helps to regulate both sympathetic hyper-arousal and parasympathetic hypo-arousal. The best ways to naturally modulate these nervous responses are through breath and movement.
This 22-Hour 2-part Certificate Program explores the benefits of Therapeutic Yoga and Applied Polyvagal Theory as related to trauma recovery with world-leading teachers Dr. Arielle Schwartz, and for Level 1 only special guest Dr. Stephen Porges.
In Level 2, Dr. Arielle Schwartz deepens our journey of applied Polyvagal Theory in therapeutic yoga with advanced topics that expand into working with trauma and grief as related to nervous system health. This session focuses on attending to grief, trauma, Complex PTSD, and dissociation in therapeutic yoga. In addition, we will explore how to invite a sense of safety in the body when working with chronic pain or illness.
